Why anonymization?
Medical data quite frequently include very sensitive information, which connected with the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) – such as names, addresses, personal IDs could be very harmful when exposed to third parties.
The violation of the personal information can also be connected with high fines. For example, in case of GDPR violation the maximum penalty is €20 million or 4% of global revenue, whichever is higher.
According to GDPR and other privacy regulations the principles of data protection should not apply to anonymous information, namely information which does not relate to an identified or identifiable natural person.
