Our website may be used without entering personal information. Different rules may apply to certain services on our site, however, and are explained separately below. We collect personal information from you (e.g. name, address, email address, telephone number, etc.) in accordance with the provisions of German data protection statutes. Information is considered personal if it can be associated exclusively to a specific natural person. The legal framework for data protection may be found in the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). The provisions below serve to provide information as to the manner, extent and purpose for collecting, using and processing personal information by the provider.

Hosting and server data
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. When you visit the website, your browser automatically transmits data to the hosting provider, which is stored in so-called server log files: type and version of the browser you use, operating system, the website that linked you to our site (referrer URL), the pages you access, date and time of your visit, and your Internet Protocol (IP) address. This data is required to deliver the website and to ensure its stability and security. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The data is not merged with other personal information you may have provided. We have concluded a data processing agreement with the hosting provider. As the provider is based in the USA, data may be processed there; see the section “Data transfer to third countries” below.
Fonts and images used on this website are delivered from our own hosting. No fonts are loaded from third-party servers.
Cookies and consent management
Cookies are small text files that your internet browser stores on your device. We distinguish between the following categories:
- Necessary: required for the basic functions of the website. We only use one such cookie (“cc_cookie”, stored for 6 months), which remembers your cookie choice. The legal basis is § 25 (2) TDDDG and our legitimate interest in documenting your choice (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
- Statistics: used to analyse how the website is used (Google Analytics 4).
- Marketing: used to measure the success of our advertising and to show relevant advertisements on other platforms (LinkedIn Insight Tag).
Statistics and marketing services are only activated if you have given your consent in our cookie banner. Before that, no data is transmitted to these providers and none of their cookies are set. The legal basis is your consent (§ 25 (1) TDDDG, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). Consent is voluntary. You can change or withdraw it at any time with effect for the future by opening the , which are also linked at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your consent, the cookies of the affected category are deleted from this website’s domain.
To manage your consent we use the open-source software “vanilla-cookieconsent”, which runs on our own website. Your choice is stored only in the cookie mentioned above on your device and is not transmitted to third parties.
Google Analytics 4 (statistics)
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4, a web analysis service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. The Google Analytics script is only loaded from Google servers after you have consented; we use Google Consent Mode to pass your cookie choice on to Google. Google Analytics uses cookies (“_ga”, “ga*”, stored for up to 2 years) and collects information about your use of our website, such as pages viewed, time and duration of your visit, approximate location, and technical information about your browser and device. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4. Google processes this information on our behalf to evaluate the usage of our site and to compile reports on website activity. Data may be transferred to servers of Google LLC in the USA.
In addition to withdrawing your consent in the cookie settings, you can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the browser add-on available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en. Further information: https://policies.google.com/privacy
LinkedIn Insight Tag (marketing)
With your consent we use the LinkedIn Insight Tag, a service of LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland. The tag sets cookies in your browser (for example “li_sugr”, “bcookie”, “lidc”, “UserMatchHistory” and “AnalyticsSyncHistory”, stored for up to 1 year) and collects data such as the pages visited, time of the visit, IP address (shortened or hashed), and device and browser properties. This enables us to measure the success of our LinkedIn campaigns and to show relevant advertisements to visitors of our website on LinkedIn. LinkedIn does not share personal data with us but provides aggregated reports. If you are a LinkedIn member, LinkedIn may associate the visit with your account. Data may be transferred to LinkedIn Corporation in the USA. LinkedIn members can control the use of their data for advertising purposes in their account settings. Contact form
If you send us a request via the contact form, we process the data you enter there (full name, company or institution, email address, telephone number and your message) in order to answer your request and, if your query so necessitates, to contact you about our services. The legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual measures (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR), our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) and, where requested, your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you may withdraw at any time. The form is technically provided by our hosting provider Netlify, which stores the submissions on our behalf and forwards them to us. We delete the data as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected, unless statutory retention obligations apply. Further details can be found in our Information Clause.
Data transfer to third countries
Some of the service providers mentioned above are based in the USA or may process data there. Where a provider is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the transfer is based on the adequacy decision of the European Commission (Art. 45 GDPR). In other cases the transfer is based on the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission (Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR).
Your rights
You have the right to obtain information about your personal data processed by us (Art. 15 GDPR), to have incorrect data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR), to have your data deleted (Art. 17 GDPR) or its processing restricted (Art. 18 GDPR), to receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20 GDPR), and to object to processing that is based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. Please note that the right to deletion does not apply where we are legally obliged to retain the data. To exercise your rights, you may contact us at no cost using the contact details above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority responsible for us: Der Hamburgische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
